DID YOU KNOW?
Your current contract expires April 1, 2016
You have a variety of options to help curb the rising healthcare costs (e.g. Nurseline, LiveHealth Online, and F.S.A.).
Your Local Union (UGWU Local69) spends $0 of your union dues to support any political party or candidate.
NEW UNION DUES IN EFFECT
The flat rate of $29.00 per pay period for Union dues was effective on the first pay period of 2016. This was a very important issue that was voted on by the membership and passed by a majority vote in accordance with your by-laws. As discussed with you previously, this will help to stabilize our Treasury and make it possible to budget accordingly.
ANNUAL JOINT COUNCIL FOR 2016 A HELD.
The annual 2016 Joint Representative Council was scheduled for January 20th and 21st. It was held at the Bridgeport Conference Center in Bridgeport, WV. As in the past, your Union Officers, Directors, Stewards, and AST members, met with the Company on the first day to discuss safety issues and share some of the safety accomplishments from each of the area safety teams. Upon conclusion of the safety portion of the conference, the remainder of the time was spent on matters concerning Representative Council in accordance with the by-laws. With this being a contract year, much of the council was spent on preparing for the upcoming negotiations. They took the opportunity to discuss your contract proposals, some in great depth, to get an understanding of what the membership would like the Negotiating Team to bargain for.
As I am sure you are well aware, your Union’s Contract is set to expire 4/1/2016. The Union’s negotiating team, which consists of the 4 Officers, 6 Directors, Union Attorney, UWUA AFL-CIO Representative, and any subject matter expert, is scheduled to meet with the Company on February 22nd to begin the process of bargaining a new contract. You also probably by now have heard of some the issues that were presented during early bargaining that will more than likely going to be on the table again during this session. As with any negotiations, the Union’s negotiating team will keep everyone up-to-date on the process daily if possible. They plan on utilizing the Union’s Facebook (UGWULOCAL69), webpage (WWW.UGWULOCAL69.COM), and most importantly directly from your Union Steward. We are asking you to stay involved, ask questions, attend meetings, and support your negotiating team as they attempt to bargain a fair and equitable contract that they can recommend a ratification of.
